Download Festival 2022

Download Festival kicked off the summer 2022 festival season in STYLE!

As the entire planet started to suffer from the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic early during winter 2020, I don’t think anyone, anywhere, could have anticipated the sheer scale of the impact the pandemic would have across the globe.

Soon after case numbers started to rack up, multiple lockdowns, social distancing, and legal enforcements were introduced. This meant that all forms of entertainment – gigs, cinemas, theatres, and even open air music festivals (to name just a few) – soon began to feel the full force of the profound effects of the global attempts to suppress of Coronavirus. I wasn’t long before cancellation of all planned large scale gatherings reached Download 2020, and little did we know at that point it would be a full 2 years before Donington Park would open it’s doors and host another full-capacity Download Festival.

The Download Pilot event in 2021 did, frankly, very little to quell the thirst and anticipation of the throngs of loyal Rock & Metal fans who were yearning to get back to doing what they do best, moshing and pitting to the very best bands on the planet!

It was therefore no surprise that as Download 2022 opened up with Wayward Sons on the Apex Stage, a huge crowd amassed to celebrate the return of the UK’s largest Rock festival. Everything that had happened throughout the 2 years prior, seemed completely forgotten about and for good reason too. The sight of multiple pits forming during the set was one to behold, and paved the way for the what will go down as one of the most memorable Download Festivals in living memory!

From ICONIC American Glam-Rockers, Kiss, to the incredible and distinctive sound of LEGENDARY British Rock band Iron Maiden, to the effervescent boundless energy from Scottish rocker Biffy Clyro, there was something for everyone, old and young, at this years festival.

Take a look at our gallery below for a brief snapshot of just a very small selection of bands that performed. Keep checking back here for further updates and more galleries.
